The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has addressed a recent misinformation circulating online regarding the payment of a ₦70,000 minimum wage to Corps Members and the supposed directive to upgrade their bank accounts. According to the NYSC, these claims are entirely false.
In an official statement, the NYSC clarified that no instructions have been received from the government agency responsible for wage matters. As a result, the NYSC has not issued any communication on this topic.
The NYSC urged Corps Members, their families, and the general public to disregard this false information. It reminded Corps Members to rely on the established channels of communication for official updates and advised them to be cautious of individuals attempting to spread misleading information.
Additionally, the NYSC cautioned bloggers and social media influencers against making unauthorized statements concerning the management of the Scheme.
Eddy Megwa, Director of Information and Public Relations at the NYSC, emphasized the importance of accuracy in public communication and urged everyone to verify information before sharing it.
