Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Aliero (KSUSTA) was established in December 2006 through Kebbi State Law No. 6. The university was founded to meet the growing demand for higher education in Kebbi State, especially due to the limited space in other Nigerian universities. The initiative was led by Senator (Dr.) Muhammad Adamu Aliero, a former governor of Kebbi State.
The university was officially recognized as the 79th university in Nigeria by the National Universities Commission (NUC), and it began academic activities in January 2008 with 404 students. Today, KSUSTA boasts a student population of 8,813, including 8,466 undergraduates and 347 postgraduates.
