Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has officially opened the application process for its Pre-Degree Science Programme for the 2024/2025 academic session. This programme is designed to prepare aspiring students for science-related fields and provide a pathway to admission into various undergraduate programmes at LAUTECH.

Programme Options for LAUTECH Pre-Degree Admission

Applicants to the Pre-Degree Science Programme can choose from a variety of undergraduate courses across different faculties. These options are divided into two groups: Group A and Group B. Each applicant must choose one programme from each group, but both selections cannot come from the same group.

Group A Programmes:

• College of Health Sciences:
  • Medicine (MBBS), Physiology, Biochemistry, Nursing, Anatomy, Medical Laboratory Science.
• Engineering and Technology:
  • Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Engineering, Agricultural Engineering.
• Renewable Natural Resources:
  • Fisheries and Aquaculture, Forest Resources Management, Wildlife and Ecotourism Management.
• Food and Consumer Sciences:
  • Food Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, Consumer Science, Hospitality and Tourism Management.
• Computing and Informatics:
  • Computer Science, Information System, Cyber Security, Library and Information Science.

Group B Programmes:

• Agricultural Sciences:
  • Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Animal Production, Crop Production and Soil Science.
• Environmental Sciences:
  • Architecture, Fine and Applied Arts, Urban and Regional Planning, Building, Estate Management, Surveying and Geoinformatics.
• Pure and Applied Sciences:
  • Pure and Applied Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Earth Sciences, Science Laboratory Technology, Statistics.
• Management Sciences:
  • Transport Management, Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Marketing.
• Arts and Social Sciences:
  • English and Literary Studies, Philosophy, History, Sociology.

Programme Structure and Duration

The LAUTECH Pre-Degree Science Programme runs for six months. It includes a mandatory three-month ICT training to equip students with essential digital skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for both academic and professional challenges in their future careers.

Admission Requirements

To apply for the Pre-Degree Programme, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Five O’ Level credits: This must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and either Biology or Agricultural Science, obtained in no more than two sittings from WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.
• Optional subjects: You can include subjects such as Economics, Geography, Financial Accounting, Marketing, Commerce, Business Studies, Government, Literature in English, Civic Education, History, Yoruba, and CRS/IRS.
• Awaiting Results: Candidates awaiting results can apply but must submit their O’ Level results before the programme ends.

How to Apply for LAUTECH Pre-Degree Admission

1. Visit the LAUTECH Admission Portal: Start your application by visiting the official admission portal.
2. Make Payment: Pay a non-refundable fee of ₦15,000 for the application form using an Interswitch-enabled debit card.
3. Fill Out the Form: Carefully complete the online application form. Incomplete or inaccurate forms will not be processed.
4. Submit and Print: After submission, download and print the Registration Confirmation Slip with your passport photograph.

Key Dates

• Application Closing Date: Friday, 29th November 2024.
• Entrance Examination: The Computer-Based Test (CBT) is scheduled for Thursday, 5th December 2024, at the LAUTECH ICT complex, starting at 9:00 a.m..

Admission into Degree Programmes

Successful completion of the Pre-Degree Programme will give students the opportunity to be considered for admission into LAUTECH’s degree programmes. Admission will depend on:

• Performance in the Pre-Degree Programme.
• Satisfactory performance in the 2025 UTME and meeting the required cut-off mark.
• Availability of seats in the desired programme.
• Successful completion of ICT training.
