UNICROSS, officially known as the University of Cross River State, is a state-owned university with four campuses dispersed among the state’s four local government areas.[2] Formerly, the institution was called the Cross River University of Technology, or CRUTECH. A bill approved by the former state governor, Benedict Ayade, and enacted by the Cross River State House of Assembly in February 2021 gave it a new name. The postsecondary institution’s name was changed to allow it to operate as a traditional university, which gives it the chance to offer more professional courses rather than just tech-related ones. Prof. Augustine Angba is the institution’s vice chancellor at the moment.
