Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic

Located in Rumuola, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, formerly known as Port Harcourt Polytechnic, is a state-owned polytechnic. The late Captain Elechi Amadi, a well-known Nigerian writer, soldier, and scholar, was honored with a name change for the school. The polytechnic is committed to offering high-quality technical and vocational instruction that gives students the know-how and abilities they need to succeed in a variety of industries.

Police Commissioner Fidelis Oyakhilome, the state’s military governor, issued the proclamation founding Rivers State School of Basic Studies on April 19, 1984, marking the institution’s founding. When the school began to operate as a postsecondary institution connected to the University of Ibadan in November 1987, the directive went into effect. Subsequently, it became associated with Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, offering pre-degree courses through the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB).
