The United Organization for Education and Sports Development (UOESD) has announced the 12th National Debating Championship, giving students across primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions in Nigeria a chance to showcase their public speaking skills.
This prestigious debating competition, organized in partnership with The Maurice Akueme Foundation, aims to develop critical thinking, persuasive speaking, and argumentation skills among young minds.

Topics for Each Level
- Primary Schools: “Schools should be seen as a better agent of socialisation than family.”
- Secondary Schools: “The Nigerian Government has done more good than harm to its citizens.”
- Tertiary Institutions: “Africa’s underdevelopment is a natural fact, not made by man.”
Rules & Participation Guidelines
1. Who Can Participate?
✅ Open to schools across Nigeria only.
✅ Primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions are eligible.
2. Team Composition
- Primary & Secondary Schools: Teams of three speakers each.
- Tertiary Institutions: Multiple teams allowed per school.
- Teams may argue either for or against the topic.
3. Speech Duration Per Speaker
- First Speaker: 5 minutes
- Second Speaker: 3 minutes
- Third Speaker: 2 minutes
4. How to Submit Entries
