The Federal Government of Nigeria invites applications for the Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship Awards for the 2025/2026 academic session. This programme offers opportunities for eligible Nigerians to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies abroad in select countries.
Eligible Programmes for FG BEA Scholarships
Undergraduate Programmes
Scholarships are available in countries like Russia, Morocco, Hungary, Egypt, and Algeria.
Fields of study include:
- Engineering, Medicine, Architecture, Biotechnology, Pilot Engineering, and Neurology
- Sciences, Mathematics, Environmental Sciences, Agriculture, and Geology
- Sports, Law, Social Sciences, and more
Postgraduate Programmes
Scholarships for Master’s and PhD programmes are offered in Russia, China, Hungary, Serbia, and Romania.
- Applicants with undergraduate degrees from Russia may only apply for postgraduate scholarships there.
Steps to Apply for the BEA Scholarships
- Visit the Federal Ministry of Education website.
- Click on the Federal Scholarship Board icon on the homepage.
- Follow the provided guidelines and complete the application form online.
- Print the completed form for reference.
Eligibility Criteria
Undergraduate Scholarships
- Seven distinctions (A or B grades) in WAEC or WASSCE, including English and Mathematics.
- Certificates must be from 2023 or 2024 (non-African countries) or 2024 (African countries).
- Age: 17–20 years.
Postgraduate Scholarships
- A first-class or second-class upper division in the first degree.
- Completion of the NYSC programme.
- Age: Master’s applicants (up to 35 years), PhD applicants (up to 40 years).
- Required documents include NYSC discharge or exemption certificates and employer release evidence.
General Notes for All Applicants
- Non-English instruction in BEA countries requires a one-year mandatory language course.
- Hungarian applications (via the Stipendium Hungaricum portal) close on 15 January 2025.
- Russian applications (Education in Russia portal) are open to postgraduate candidates who studied in Russia.
- Documents must be uploaded in PDF format, including academic certificates, WAEC/WASSCE results, NYSC certificates, and NIN slips.

- Birth certificate and indigene letter.
- Police clearance certificate, if required.
