The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, 2024 – Second Series, will commence on Friday, October 25, 2024, and run until Friday, December 20, 2024. This marks a significant milestone as WAEC introduces a hybrid mode of delivering the examination for greater flexibility.

Key Details of the Computer-Based WASSCE

In a statement released by WAEC on Tuesday, it was revealed that the WASSCE Second Series would adopt a hybrid mode for delivering the exam. This means that while multiple-choice questions (objective) will be presented on-screen and require candidates to submit their answers directly online, the essay and practical sections will also appear on-screen, but candidates will be required to write their responses in the provided answer booklets.

Additionally, candidates have the option to opt for the traditional Paper and Pen Mode for the entire examination if preferred.

Extended Registration Period

WAEC has also extended the registration deadline for candidates. The registration window, which was initially set to close earlier, will now remain open until Tuesday, October 29, 2024. This provides additional time for interested candidates to register and take part in the upcoming exam.

Walk-In Candidate Option

For those unable to register before the official deadline, WAEC has introduced the Walk-in-Candidate option. This allows candidates to register up to 24 hours before the scheduled time of their desired paper. It’s a convenient option for last-minute registrants and ensures no candidate is left behind.

Timetable and Learning Resources

Candidates can download the final examination timetable from the official WAEC Nigeria website, ensuring they are prepared for the upcoming tests. In addition, WAEC encourages both registered and intending candidates to take advantage of its wide range of learning resources:

  • WAEC e-Study Platform: Sign up to access valuable study materials.
  • Past Questions and Answers: Purchase past WASSCE questions to practice for the exam.
  • WAECKonnect Platform: Join a community of fellow candidates to share ideas and interact.

WAEC’s Commitment to Innovation

WAEC continues to lead in educational testing by adopting cutting-edge technologies that streamline the examination process. According to the council, these innovations are part of WAEC’s ongoing effort to make its services more accessible and efficient for all stakeholders. WAEC also wished all candidates success in their upcoming exams, reinforcing its commitment to quality education across the region.

With the introduction of the hybrid exam mode and extended registration period, WAEC is providing more flexibility for candidates sitting for the 2024 Computer-Based WASSCE. Make sure you register before the deadline, download the timetable, and use the available learning resources to prepare effectively for success.
