The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued an advisory for prospective candidates preparing for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Candidates are encouraged to create their profiles early as the registration officially begins in January 2025.
This proactive step aims to streamline the registration process and minimize delays caused by last-minute preparations.
Profile Creation Process
- Candidates must create their profiles by sending a text message in the format:
- NIN (space) followed by their 11-digit National Identification Number (NIN) to 55019.
This process generates a unique profile code, a mandatory requirement for completing UTME registration. Without this code, candidates will be unable to proceed with their registration.
Why Early Profile Creation is Important
1. Prevents technical glitches and congestion on the registration portal.
2. Provides ample time to resolve potential issues such as errors in personal information or NIN-related challenges.
3. Ensures a smooth registration experience when the portal officially opens.
Biometric Verification Guidelines
JAMB reiterated the importance of biometric verification during registration and examination.
Key points include:
- Avoid applying henna (Laali or Lale) or substances that may interfere with fingerprint scanning.
- Henna designs and harsh chemicals used to remove them can damage fingerprint whorls, making biometric verification difficult or impossible.
- Biometric verification is mandatory for access to the examination hall. Without it, candidates will be denied entry, regardless of registration status.
Additional Information
JAMB also confirmed that the minimum age for admission into Nigerian universities remains 16 years for the 2025/2026 session.
Stay Updated
Candidates are advised to rely only on official JAMB channels for updates and to avoid unverified sources of information. Early preparation, including profile creation, is critical to ensuring a seamless registration process and successful participation in the examination.
Follow the guidelines diligently to avoid last-minute complications and guarantee a stress-free experience.
