In a move to ease financial pressures on students, Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has announced a significant reduction in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) fees for the 2024 academic year. Here’s an overview of the updated charges, changes, and what students can expect.
Major ICT Fee Reductions at UNIZIK
Under the leadership of Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Carol Arinze Umobi, the ICT fees have been revised following the recommendations of the ICT Committee. This update introduces a total reduction of ₦9,500 in ICT-related fees, making it more affordable for students across various programmes.
Key Updates to ICT Fees and Charges
- Single ICT Charge
To simplify payment, students will now pay a single consolidated ICT fee, eliminating the need for multiple payments throughout the semester. - Eliminated Fees
- Application Fee: Removed, saving students ₦2,000.
- Duplicate Orientation Fee: Removed, saving students ₦3,500.
- Reduced Fees
- General Studies Publications Fee: Lowered from ₦12,000 to ₦8,000, reducing academic expenses for students.
- Transcript Fee Reduction
Students can now benefit from a 50% reduction on all transcript processing fees, a substantial decrease aimed at supporting graduates and current students who need transcripts for various applications.
Improvements in University Transcript Processing
The ICT Committee has also recommended bringing transcript processing in-house to improve speed and efficiency. Professor Umobi has approved this change to streamline processes and ensure faster services for students.
