University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) Appoints Mrs. Shiva Rae M’ovul-Kondoun as New Bursar

The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has officially appointed Mrs. Shiva Rae M’ovul-Kondoun as its new Bursar, a role she will hold for a single five-year term. Her appointment was approved by the university’s Governing Council at its 70th Extra-Ordinary meeting on 24th October 2024.

Profile of Mrs. Shiva Rae M’ovul-Kondoun

Originally from Logo Local Government Area in Benue State, Mrs. M’ovul-Kondoun brings a strong academic and professional background. She completed her secondary education at Queen of Rosary Secondary School, Gboko in 1983, before earning a Diploma in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University in 1987. In 1997, she obtained a Bachelor’s in Accounting from the University of Benin, followed by a Master’s in Business Administration from Benue State University in 2005. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Accounting and Finance at Benue State University.

Professional Training and Global Experience

Mrs. M’ovul-Kondoun has completed extensive training both locally and internationally. Her global experience includes seminars on Leadership, Ethics, and Corporate Governance at the University of Pittsburgh, USA (2013), as well as participation in the IFRS Conference (UK, 2011) and the World Congress of Accountants in Rome (2014), Sydney (2018), and Mumbai (2022). She has also engaged in various Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) programs through professional accounting bodies.

Career Path and Contributions

Mrs. M’ovul-Kondoun’s career began at Benue State University in 2001, where she advanced to Deputy Bursar by 2012 and served as Acting Bursar from January to August 2021. She has held numerous leadership roles, including membership in the ANAN Governing Council Committee on International Relations and Linkages (2015-2019) and board membership in the Chartered Institute of Forensic and Certified Fraud Examiners of Nigeria (CIFCFEN) since 2019. She also serves as the Chair of Professional Women Accountants in Nigeria (PROWAN). Prior to her current role at UNIABUJA, she was the Deputy Bursar of Budget and Expenditure Control at Benue State University.

Professional Affiliations

Mrs. M’ovul-Kondoun is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (FCNA) since 2019 and the Chartered Institute of Forensic and Certified Fraud Examiners of Nigeria (CIFCFEN) since 2021. She is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (ACTI) and is registered with the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) as a Professional Accountant.

With her extensive background in accounting, governance, and administration, Mrs. M’ovul-Kondoun’s appointment as UNIABUJA’s Bursar promises to strengthen the university’s financial management and strategic planning.
