🎯 OAU Admission Requirements for UTME Applicants (2025/2026)

To gain admission into any of the programmes listed above through UTME, candidates must meet the following conditions:

  • O’Level Results: You must have at least five (5) credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in no more than two sittings (WAEC/NECO/GCE).
  • UTME Score: A minimum score of 180 in the JAMB UTME. Note that highly competitive courses like Medicine, Law, and Engineering often require 200–250+ to stand a real chance.
  • Correct JAMB Subject Combination: You must choose the right subject combination for your course. Failure to do so may disqualify you.
  • First Choice Institution: OAU must be selected as your first choice during JAMB registration.
  • Post-UTME Screening: You must participate in and pass the OAU post-UTME screening exam.
  • Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 16 years old at the time of admission.

🧾 OAU Admission Requirements for Direct Entry (DE) Applicants

If you’re applying through Direct Entry (DE), the following requirements apply:

  • Minimum of 5 credits at O’Level, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings.
  • You must possess at least two A’Level passes in relevant subjects.
  • Holders of NCE, ND, JUPEB, HND, or a First Degree in a relevant field may also apply—note that higher grades (Upper Credit or 2:1 and above) give stronger chances.
  • You must apply for DE through JAMB and also register through the OAU admission portal.
  • A transcript or statement of result from your previous institution may be required during screening.

✅ Important Reminders

  • Some departments like Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Law, and Engineering are highly competitive. Scoring the bare minimum in UTME might not be enough—aim higher.
  • Pay attention to your subject combination. For instance, applying for Law without Literature in English in your UTME is a dealbreaker.
  • Don’t wait until the last minute to upload your documents (O’Level results, A’Level, etc.) to the JAMB portal—late uploads could cost you the admission.

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) offers an extensive list of academic programmes across several faculties, making it one of Nigeria’s most versatile institutions. If you’re aiming to study at OAU, your first step is to make sure your grades, UTME score, and subject combinations match your chosen course.

Now that you’ve seen the full course list and requirements, you’re one step closer to planning a successful application. Bookmark this guide, double-check the requirements for your specific programme, and stay updated via the official OAU website and JAMB portal.
