NECO 2024 Results Released: 60.55% Candidates Pass with Five Credits Including English and Mathematics

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the 2024 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) internal results. This announcement was made by Professor Dantani Wushishi, NECO’s Registrar and Chief Executive, on Thursday, September 19, at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

Out of the 1,376,423 candidates who registered, 1,367,736 actually sat for the exam, with 60.55% (828,284 candidates) achieving five credits or more, including Mathematics and English Language.

Key Statistics from the 2024 NECO Results

  • Total Registered Candidates: 1,376,423

  • Candidates Who Passed with Five Credits Regardless of Mathematics and English: 1,147,597 (83.90%)
  • Special Needs Candidates: 2,267
    • 1,104 with hearing impairment
    • 348 with visual impairment
    • 342 with albinism
    • 237 with autism
    • 236 with low vision

Malpractice and Disciplinary Actions

The Registrar reported a significant reduction in malpractice cases, with 8,437 candidates involved in 2024, compared to 12,030 in 2023, marking a 30.1% decrease.

However, 40 schools across 17 states were caught in mass cheating, and one school in Ekiti State was recommended for de-recognition due to cheating in multiple core subjects. 21 supervisors across 12 states were also recommended for blacklisting due to their involvement in aiding malpractice and poor supervision.

Performance by States

Abia State led in performance, with 83.40% of candidates achieving five credits, including Mathematics and English. Katsina State, on the other hand, had the lowest performance, with 42% of students meeting the same criteria.


How to Check Your NECO 2024 Results

Follow these steps to check your results online:

  1. Visit the NECO Website: Go to the official NECO portal at www.neco.gov.ng or directly access the result-checking page at https://results.neco.gov.ng.
  2. Select ‘NECO Results’: On the homepage, choose the option to check results.
  3. Enter Examination Details: Input your exam year (2024), type (June/July or Nov/Dec), and your unique examination number.
  4. Input Your Token: You can purchase a result-checking token directly from the NECO website or from authorized retailers. Enter the token code in the required field.
  5. Check Your Results: After filling in the necessary details, click on “Check Results.” Your results will be displayed on the screen.

Special Notes on Token Use

  • You can buy tokens directly from the NECO website, or from approved third-party retailers.
  • Each token allows five attempts to check a result. Once these attempts are exhausted, any further result verifications will require the use of the NECO E-Verify Result Verification Portal.

Make sure you do not exhaust your token’s access unnecessarily.
