In a significant move to boost access to higher education for youths in Adamawa State, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu, the state organizing secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has awarded scholarships to 500 students attending various tertiary institutions across Nigeria. This initiative was unveiled during a ceremony held on Sunday in the Yola-South Local Government Area.

A Birthday Celebration with Impact

The scholarship awards were part of the events organized to commemorate Ribadu’s 45th birthday. Addressing the gathering, Ribadu emphasized that the initiative was born out of his desire to alleviate the financial burden faced by many parents due to the current economic hardship. He pledged that the scholarships would be an annual contribution to the development of the education sector in Adamawa State.

Reflecting on the difficulties many families encounter in sending their children to school, Ribadu stated, “Education is a fundamental right, and I hope this initiative helps open doors for our youth who otherwise might not have the opportunity.”

Continuous Support for Education in Adamawa

Ribadu, who is also the younger brother of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, highlighted his commitment to promoting education in Adamawa State. He expressed optimism about the ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stressing that the positive changes will soon be felt across the country.

He noted, “President Bola Tinubu deserves commendation, not criticism, as his administration’s radical reforms will soon uplift the lives of Nigerians.”

Commendations from Party Leaders

The APC Chairman for Yola-South Local Government, Alhaji Ahmadu Bingel, lauded Ribadu’s scholarship scheme, describing it as a commendable initiative that should be emulated by other party leaders. He pointed out that the program could play a vital role in addressing the issue of out-of-school children in the state.

Bingel further emphasized that the scholarship aligns with the federal government’s efforts to improve the education sector through student loans and other support schemes, noting, “This program will complement the government’s efforts to expand educational opportunities for Nigerian students.”

Beneficiaries Express Gratitude

One of the scholarship beneficiaries, Usman Abubakar, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and urged his fellow students to make the most of it. He highlighted that the initiative could help shape their futures and called on other leaders to support similar educational programs.

“This scholarship is a blessing, and I encourage all beneficiaries to work hard and make the most of this opportunity,” Abubakar stated.
