Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, has named Arc. Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso as its 10th substantive Rector. The appointment, approved by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, takes effect on Friday, 6th December 2024.

Appointment Announcement and Approval
The appointment was conveyed via a letter (Ref. MOEST/HSC.1/9) dated 3rd December 2024, signed by Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology. The announcement was made by Emeritus Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun, Chairman of the Governing Council, who praised the Governor’s support and wished the incoming Rector success.

Outgoing Rector’s Tenure
Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, the outgoing Rector, will complete his term on 5th December 2024, marking the end of his five-year tenure that began in 2019.

Career Milestones of Arc. Dr. Jolaoso

• Early Career: Joined MAPOLY as a Laboratory Assistant in 1982 and became a Chief Lecturer in Architecture in 2015.
• Education:
  • ND & HND in Architecture from Ogun State Polytechnic (now MAPOLY) (1985–1988).
  • BSc and MSc in Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1989–1994).
  • PhD in Architecture from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (2018).
• Professional Achievements:
  • Registered Architect and Fellow of the Association of Nigerian Chartered Architects.
  • Affiliations with institutes such as the Chartered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management and the Institute of Management Specialists, UK.
  • 78 academic publications and notable research contributions.

Personal and Linguistic Proficiency
Arc. Dr. Jolaoso is married to Dr. Mrs. Azeezat Adeola Jolaoso, and they are blessed with children. Fluent in English, Yoruba, and Hausa, he brings a wealth of academic and leadership experience to his new role.

This appointment marks a historic milestone as he becomes the first alumnus to serve as Rector in MAPOLY’s 45-year history.
