The Kwara State University (KWASU) invites the public to its 12th convocation ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, 14th December 2024, at the Ultra-Modern Performing Arts Building, Malete campus. The event celebrates the award of first and postgraduate degrees and the presentation of prizes, featuring several pre-convocation activities.

Convocation Schedule

Day 1: Tuesday, 10th December 2024

• Vice Chancellor’s Press Briefing
  • Venue: Muhammadu Buhari Main Library, KWASU Campus
  • Time: 11:00 a.m.
• Official Opening of Exhibition by University Units
  • Venue: Muhammadu Buhari Main Library
  • Time: Immediately after the press briefing
• Football Match (Academic Staff vs Non-Teaching Staff)
  • Venue: University Stadium Complex
  • Time: 3:00 p.m.

Day 2: Thursday, 12th December 2024

• Convocation Lecture
  • Lecturer: Emeritus Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo, OON, FAS
  • Topic: The Optimum Utilisation of Nigeria’s Energy Resources for Sustainable Growth and Development
  • Venue: Mini Convocation Arena
  • Time: 11:00 a.m.
• Convocation Play by Performing Arts and Film Studies
  • Title: Mojagbe by Ahmed Yerima
  • Venue: Ultra-Modern Performing Arts Building
  • Time: 11:00 a.m.

Day 3: Saturday, 14th December 2024

• Main Convocation Ceremony
  • Event: Award of Degrees and Presentation of Prizes
  • Venue: Ultra-Modern Performing Arts Building
  • Time: 10:00 a.m. (Guests to be seated by 9:00 a.m.)

Important Information for Graduands

Graduand Checklist

• Confirm your name on the KWASU website.
• Each graduand can invite one guest.
• Invitation cards and academic gowns will be available from Thursday, 12th December, after the convocation lecture.

Convocation Charges

• Undergraduates: ₦35,000 (includes gown hire, certificate scroll, alumni fee, and certificate).
• Postgraduates: ₦60,000 (includes the same provisions).

Note: Certificate scrolls can be collected post-ceremony upon presenting proof of payment and a clearance certificate.

Mandatory Requirements

• Attend the academic procession rehearsal on Friday, 13th December, at 2:30 p.m.
• Arrive on campus by 7:00 a.m. on the convocation day (Saturday, 14th December). Procession starts at 8:00 a.m.
• Wear the approved academic gown and formal attire (English wear or national attire).

Gown Return

• Return gowns to Faculty Officers by Friday, 20th December 2024.
• Late returns attract a fine of ₦500 per day.
