The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced plans to commence registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in January 2025. This information was disclosed in the Board’s Monday Bulletin obtained in Abuja. However, JAMB is yet to confirm the exact date for the registration portal’s opening or the release of registration guidelines.
Improved Registration and Examination Experience
In preparation for the 2025 UTME, JAMB has implemented extensive measures to ensure a seamless experience for candidates and stakeholders.
Insights gained from the 2024 UTME have been reviewed to enhance processes, including:
1. Generating a sufficient pool of examination items for the Computer-Based Test (CBT).
2. Accrediting examination centers to maintain high standards.
3. Streamlining the registration process to minimize delays.
4. Strengthening result management protocols for improved accuracy.
Enhanced Measures for 2025 UTME
JAMB has introduced robust strategies to address past challenges and ensure transparency and efficiency. Key improvements include:
- Adequate logistics for smooth examination conduct.
- Enhanced transparency during registration.
- A focus on maintaining examination integrity.
With examination centers accredited and a satisfactory pool of items prepared, JAMB is confident the 2025 UTME will set a new benchmark in efficiency and fairness.
Pre-Registration and Biometric Guidelines
- Candidates are encouraged to create their profiles ahead of time by sending a text message in the format:
- NIN (space) followed by their 11-digit NIN number to 55019.
This step is essential to avoid delays and ensure a smooth registration process.
Additionally, JAMB has issued a strict warning against the use of henna (Laali or Lale) on fingers. Henna designs and harsh chemicals used to remove them can interfere with biometric verification, which is mandatory for registration and examination access. Without successful biometric verification, candidates will be denied entry into the examination hall.
The 2025 UTME registration is set to commence in January 2025, with JAMB promising a more efficient and transparent process than ever before. Candidates are advised to:
- Create their profiles early.
- Adhere to biometric verification guidelines.
- Avoid practices that could compromise their registration or examination participation.
Further details, including the exact registration commencement date, will be announced soon.
