Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) is currently undergoing an assessment for six newly introduced academic programmes. The assessment teams from the National Universities Commission (NUC), Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QRSBN), and Nigerian Institute of Animal Scientists (NIAS) are evaluating the courses to ensure they meet the required academic and professional standards.
Assessment Process
A courtesy visit took place on Monday, 10th February 2025, at the Academic Publishing Centre (APC), Main Campus. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, emphasized the importance of peer reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and noted that this evaluation will enhance the university’s academic offerings.
Courses Under Review
The NUC team, consisting of 15 panel members, will assess the following courses under the School of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (SAAT):
- B.Tech. Crop Science
- B.Tech. Soil Science and Land Management
- B.Tech. Agricultural Economics
- B.Tech. Agricultural Extension
- B.Tech. Animal Science
- B.Tech. Horticulture
Additionally, QRSBN will assess B.Tech. Quantity Surveying, while NIAS will evaluate B.Tech. Animal Production.
Purpose of the Assessment
The primary goal of the accreditation process is to ensure that these new courses meet both academic and industry standards. This assessment supports FUTMINNA’s ongoing efforts to enhance its academic programmes and provide quality education.
