Covenant University, located in Ota, Ogun State, has once again showcased its dedication to academic excellence by awarding 339 First-Class degrees during its 19th convocation ceremony. This achievement reflects the institution’s strong commitment to fostering academic growth, character-building, and preparing graduates to lead in various sectors.
Dr. David Oyedepo, the Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Regents, emphasized the university’s mission of providing quality education while addressing character development challenges among the youth. He noted that Covenant University continues to be a solution-driven institution, respected for both its academic standards and its Christian values. The university’s approach combines rigorous education with moral development, aiming to nurture future leaders.
Pro-Chancellor Bishop David Abioye encouraged the graduates to be patient as they transition into their professional lives and to take up the mantle of leadership to positively impact society. “You have been shaped into leaders; now is the time to rise and make a difference,” he advised.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Abiodun H. Adebayo commended the achievements of the graduates, particularly the 339 First-Class recipients, noting that this milestone underscores the students’ dedication and the university’s focus on producing global change-makers. The high number of First-Class honors further cements Covenant University’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s top private institutions.
Out of 1,607 graduates, 762 earned Second-Class Upper degrees, while 330 received Second-Class Lower honors. The ceremony also celebrated Sanni Rilwan Oludamilere, an Industrial Mathematics graduate, who was named the Best Overall Student with an impressive CGPA of 4.99.
