The Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Challenge 2025 is now open for applications, offering young innovators in Africa’s travel and tourism sector an opportunity to gain funding, mentorship, and global exposure.

Purpose of the Challenge

• Provides a platform for African youth to showcase innovative projects tackling challenges in tourism.

Prizes and Benefits

Winners will be awarded monetary prizes:

• Winner: USD $1,000 worth of prizes.
• 1st Runner-Up: USD $500 worth of prizes.
• 2nd Runner-Up: USD $500 worth of prizes.

Eligibility

• Open to individuals, partnerships, or organisations in the tourism sector.
• Youth aged 18–35 years and postgraduate students of all ages are eligible.
• Inclusive of all participants, regardless of gender, race, or physical ability.

Entry Guidelines

Participants must:

• Outline the project’s vision, originality, and purpose.
• Demonstrate how the project addresses tourism-related challenges, such as technology or community development.
• Highlight the project’s sustainability and potential for long-term impact.
• Include a timeline for implementation.
• Specify the required support, such as funding, mentorship, or investment.
• Submit project details in under 500 words and prepare a 5-minute demo or Minimum Viable Product (MVP) presentation.
• Submit only one entry per participant.

Selection Criteria

Entries will be judged on the following:

• Originality: The uniqueness of the idea and its application.
• Sustainability: The project’s environmental, social, and economic impact.
• Significance: Relevance to key challenges in the tourism industry.
• Applicability: Potential for adoption by others in the sector.
• Practicality: Clear objectives and actionable implementation.
• Impact: Potential to drive meaningful change in tourism or local communities.
