The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has officially announced the sale of postgraduate admission forms for the 2025/2026 academic session. Interested candidates can now apply online for a wide range of programmes, including Postgraduate Diplomas (PGD), Master’s degrees, M.Phil, and PhD programmes.

UNIBEN Postgraduate Admission Requirements
The School of Postgraduate Studies at UNIBEN has outlined the following requirements:
- General O’Level Requirement: A minimum of five credits in WASC, NECO, GCE, or equivalent qualifications. Some programmes may accept OND, NCE, IJMB, or A-level passes.
- Degree Requirement:
- Candidates with a Pass degree are not eligible.
- Third Class graduates must first complete a PGD before proceeding to Master’s.
- For Master’s programmes, applicants must hold at least a Second Class Lower degree.
- M.Phil candidates must present a Weighted Average Score of 55–59%.
- PhD aspirants must have at least 60% average in their Master’s degree. Graduates from other universities may be asked to retake core UNIBEN courses for standardisation.
- NYSC Requirement: Every applicant must present either an NYSC Discharge Certificate, Exemption Certificate, or Exclusion Letter.
The Referee Process
Every application must be supported by referees. UNIBEN requires referees to complete and submit their reports directly to the School of Postgraduate Studies. Applications without referee reports will not be processed.

- The UNIBEN postgraduate form costs ₦22,000.
- Payments are made online using a valid VERVE or MasterCard ATM card.
- After payment, applicants should:
- Complete the online application form.
- Print out both the completed application and referee forms.
- All forms must be filled correctly. Incomplete or wrongly filled applications will not be considered.

After Admission
Candidates offered admission will be required to pay a non-refundable acceptance fee of ₦60,000. Failure to pay means forfeiture of the admission offer.
