Rhema University Postgraduate Admission Requirements
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
To be eligible for the Postgraduate Diploma program, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Five O’ Level credit passes, including English and Mathematics, in no more than two sittings.
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a minimum of a third-class in a relevant field.
- Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least an upper credit from accredited institutions.
- For unclassified HNDs, a CGPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale, 3.00 on a 4-point scale, or 60% is acceptable.
Master’s Degree (M.Sc.)
Applicants for the Master’s Degree program must:
- Hold a first degree from a recognized university with at least a second class lower (CGPA of not less than 3.00/5.00).
- Possess a Postgraduate Diploma from a recognized university.
- Hold any other qualifications acceptable to the University Senate.
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
Candidates applying for the Ph.D. program must:
- Hold a Master’s degree in the relevant discipline with at least 60% performance from a recognized university.
- Alternatively, candidates with an M.Phil. in the relevant field are eligible.
Concept Note Submission (For Ph.D. and Master’s Candidates)
All Ph.D. and Master’s candidates are required to submit a Concept Note as part of their application. The Concept Note should include:
- Brief theoretical background
- Statement of the problem
- Relevance of the study to the applicant and society
- Study objectives
- Justification
- Methodology
The Concept Note must be two pages for Ph.D. applications and one page for Master’s applications. Failure to submit this document may result in disqualification from the oral interview process.
Program Duration
- Postgraduate Diploma (PGD): Minimum of two semesters and maximum of four semesters.
- Master’s Degree (M.Sc.): Minimum of three semesters and maximum of five semesters.
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.): Minimum of six semesters and maximum of eight semesters.

Referee’s Report
Candidates are required to download three copies of the Referee’s Report Form from the university’s website. At least two of your referees should be former teachers, while the third should attest to your character and integrity. These reports should be sent confidentially to:

Required Documents for Submission
After completing the online or in-person application, submit the following documents:
- NYSC certificate (Discharge, Exemption, or Exclusion)
- Three copies of the completed application form
- Relevant academic credentials
- Six passport photographs
- Concept Note (for Master’s and Ph.D. candidates)
