Sunoco, a motor fuel distribution company founded in 1886 in Texas, is now part of the Energy Transfer Partners Group.

The Sunoco logo has undergone several changes throughout its history, with each version reflecting the company's evolving brand identity.

1894 – 1920
The original logo, used under the name "Sun Oils," featured the lettering inside a rhombus. The design had a squeezed effect, with the letters pushed close to the rhombus sides. The color scheme was yellow for the rhombus with blue lettering.

1920 – 1954
The rhombus became flatter, and the letter placement changed, with the central letters sitting lower than the initial and final ones. The logo was updated with a red arrow, symbolizing movement and progress.

1954 – 1999
The colors brightened, with a more vivid yellow and blue. The arrow shifted direction, now slanting from the top left corner to the bottom right corner, adding a dynamic feel to the design.

1999 – Present
The logo returned to a more muted color palette, reminiscent of the original design, with arched lettering straightened and italicized to create a sense of dynamism. The updated logo also featured blue strokes above and below the wordmark to enhance the energetic effect.

The Sunoco wordmark is based on a bold italicized font, resembling Mesquin Italic but with slight modifications. The logo's color scheme combines yellow, blue, and red, conveying growth, progress, professionalism, and reliability.
