Pepsi’s logo has gone through numerous transformations since its creation in 1893, reflecting the brand's growth and cultural significance. It started as Brad's Drink, with a simple serif logo, then evolved into Pepsi-Cola in 1898 with a cursive design reflecting the drink's ingredients. The 1903 logo, though short-lived, introduced bold red cursive lettering, and by 1907, the brand had solidified a more confident design with thicker characters. Over the decades, the logo became more streamlined, especially in the 1930s, and by the 1950s, a modernized bottle cap symbol began to take shape.
From the 1960s onwards, Pepsi embraced more bold, modern logos, often incorporating the iconic red, white, and blue color scheme. By 1971, a distinctive circular emblem with a thick white outline, representing the bottle cap, solidified Pepsi’s identity. The logo underwent continuous refinement, with major changes in 1987, 1991, and 1996, each time making the design sleeker, more dynamic, and representative of the brand's international presence.
The most recent redesign, unveiled in 2023 for the brand’s 125th anniversary, brought back elements of the 1987 logo but added a modern touch with a black outline around the emblem and a slanted, custom typeface for the wordmark. Pepsi’s logo evolution reflects not only its long history but also its enduring appeal across generations, symbolizing freedom, youth, and a sense of fun.
