The Atlantic Sun Conference has undergone two major logo transformations since its inception in 2000, both of which highlight different interpretations of the "Sun" theme. The logos, while both featuring a sun and the word "Sun" itself, differ vastly in design elements, reflecting the evolution of the conference's identity.

History and Meaning
Founded in 1978 as the Trans America Athletic Conference, the Atlantic Sun Conference has a storied history in NCAA Division I athletics. The conference has fostered significant success in various sports, with teams like Florida Gulf Coast University earning national attention for their remarkable run to the Sweet 16 in the 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, often referred to as "Dunk City." The Atlantic Sun has also consistently produced competitive teams in baseball, soccer, volleyball, and more, all while maintaining a strong focus on academic achievement. This balance of athletic excellence and academic rigor has been a defining characteristic of the conference, which continues to thrive and evolve with its growing lineup of institutions.

The Atlantic Sun Conference’s Role
The Atlantic Sun Conference, now home to several universities primarily based in the Southeastern United States, is known for its competitive sports programs and commitment to upholding the values of integrity, competitive excellence, and academic achievement. Its member schools continue to embody the NCAA's mission of fostering a balanced, inclusive environment for student-athletes.

Logo Evolution: 2000-2015
The first major redesign of the Atlantic Sun Conference logo took place in 2000, introducing an emblem that showcased an orange sun with large, sweeping rays. The sun was depicted rising behind the text “Atlantic Sun,” with the “A” in “Atlantic” extending to form a wave-like shape. This design reflected the conference's vibrant, dynamic nature and its regional roots.

Logo Redesign: 2016-Present
In 2016, the conference rebranded with a more streamlined and modern design. The sun was reimagined as a gold circle, now contained within the dark grey “A” that serves as the focal point of the logo. The word “SUN” was placed next to the “A” in bold yellow letters, while the word “Conference” appeared beneath, giving the overall design a cleaner, more professional appearance. This updated logo marks a shift from the sun as a dominant graphic element to a more balanced, minimalistic design that reflects the evolving identity of the conference.
