Paul University, Awka (PUA), is a private Christian university located in Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria. Established in 2009 by the Anglican Church’s East of Niger bishops, the university aims to provide undergraduate education in the social sciences, natural and applied sciences, management, and the arts. Despite being a private institution, Paul University has received support from the Anambra State government, including infrastructure funding and automobile donations under the leadership of Governor Peter Obi.
Paul University traces its roots back to 1904 when St. Paul’s Institution College was founded by the Church Missionary Society of the Church of England to train church workers and teachers. Today, Paul University has evolved into a fully residential institution with modern facilities and a projected enrollment of up to 3,500 students.
