UCH Ibadan Nurse/Midwife/Public Health Tutors’ Programme Overview
The Nurse Educator programme is managed by the Federal Training Centre for Teachers of Health Sciences, affiliated with the University of Ibadan. The course leads to a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Education (PGDNE), equipping healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills to teach and mentor future nurses, midwives, and public health nurses.
Eligibility for the Nurse Educator Programme
Educational Qualifications
To qualify for admission to the PGDNE programme, applicants must possess the following:
- Five credits in WASCE/GCE O-Level (or equivalent) at one sitting, or six credits at no more than two sittings.
- Required subjects include English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics.
Professional Qualifications and Experience
Eligible candidates must:
- Be Registered Nurses with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
- Hold a first degree in Nursing.
- Possess a current practicing licence issued by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
- Have at least two years of post-qualification work experience, which is advantageous but not mandatory.
How to Apply for the Nurse Educator Programme
Follow these steps to apply:
- Visit the University of Ibadan Postgraduate College portal.
- Click on “Sign Up” for new applicants and fill out the personal details form.
- Enter the code provided on the right side of the form to proceed.
- Check your email for a username and password to access the portal.
- Log in with these credentials and select Faculty of Clinical Science, Department of Nursing, and the PGDNE Programme.
- Generate an invoice and make the payment using an ATM card (MasterCard).
Examination and Selection Process
The selection process involves an English Language proficiency test and an interactive session. The examination date will be announced to all registered applicants.
Training Conditions for the Programme
