The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) in Kogi State celebrated the remarkable achievements of 41 students who graduated with first class honours during the institution’s eighth convocation ceremony. The event, held on Monday at the university’s Felele campus, marked a significant milestone for both the graduates and the university.
Breakdown of Graduates’ Performance
During his speech, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, revealed the academic accomplishments of the graduating students:
- 41 students achieved first class honours.
- 461 students graduated with second class upper division.
- 974 students earned second class lower division.
- 384 students received third class honours.
- 3 students graduated with a pass.
Celebrating Dedication and Perseverance
Prof. Akinwumi, a Professor of History, praised the students for their hard work and commitment. He emphasized that their success reflects the values instilled at FUL, such as respect, integrity, innovation, dedication, and diligence. He further encouraged the graduates to uphold these principles as they step into the next phase of their lives.
“This is a significant moment not just for the university but for the graduates and their families, as it marks the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance,” said the Vice-Chancellor.
Honouring Eminent Personalities
As part of the ceremony, honorary degrees were also conferred on distinguished personalities who have made significant contributions to the development of both the university and the nation.
Prof. Akinwumi concluded by congratulating the graduates, urging them to carry forward the lessons learned at FUL and continue striving for excellence in their future endeavours.
