Club América - A Legacy of Football Excellence and Evolution

Founded in 1916 in Mexico City, Club América has grown into one of the most prominent football clubs in Mexico and the world. Known as Las Águilas (The Eagles), the team boasts an illustrious history of triumphs and a loyal fan base. Owned by Grupo Televisa since the late 1950s, Club América plays its home games at the iconic Estadio Azteca under the guidance of manager Santiago Solari.

What Is Club América?

Club América competes in Liga MX, Mexico's premier football league, and is renowned for its consistent dominance, dynamic gameplay, and deep-rooted heritage. The club’s visual identity, like its footballing prowess, has undergone significant evolution, reflecting both tradition and modernity.

Evolution of the Club América Logo

Over its long history, Club América has embraced numerous logo redesigns. Each iteration showcases the club’s evolving identity while maintaining core elements that celebrate its Mexican roots and football heritage.

1916

The inaugural logo was a minimalist design featuring the overlapping letters “CA” in dark blue, crafted in a soft wishbone typeface. It was simple yet emblematic of the club’s early days.

1917–1918

The badge was transformed into a yellow globe with dark blue outlines, symbolizing the club’s global aspirations. The initials “CA” were prominently displayed, marking the start of a more visually distinct identity.

1919

A unique geometric monogram emerged, with the “CA” rendered as triangular horseshoes, emphasizing boldness and innovation.

1921–1938

The club reverted to the globe design, refining the contours of the map and letters. This version remained consistent for nearly two decades.

1923

For a brief period, a roundel featuring the Mexican national colors (green, white, and red) with an eagle design was introduced, highlighting national pride.

1938–1946

A triangular crest was introduced, incorporating a stylized yellow eagle and a red-outlined globe. This design represented strength and ambition.

1947–1960

The logo embraced a football-inspired design, with smooth lines and a yellow-and-black palette. The letters “CA” were rendered in bold red sans-serif, emphasizing modernity.

1967–1970

Returning to earlier color schemes, the club introduced a more elegant badge with thinner lines and darker hues, aligning with the era’s aesthetic preferences.

1970–1981

Bright, saturated colors characterized this period, enhancing visibility and vibrancy. Geometric shapes gave the logo a more stable and confident appearance.

1981–1999

Further refinements included bold outlines, lighter blues, and an overall stronger visual presence. The red “CA” initials became a defining feature.

1999–2009

Double outlines and muted shades brought balance and sophistication, while the football texture became more pronounced, symbolizing energy and motion.

2010–2017

Thicker outlines and vibrant colors added power and professionalism. This version resonated with the club’s status as a footballing powerhouse.

2017–Today

The current logo emphasizes boldness with darker hues, smaller but more prominent red initials, and detailed continent outlines on the globe. The deep blue shade exudes reliability, while the refined design reflects Club América’s stature in global football.
