Asking Alexandria is a British metalcore band formed in 2006 by guitarist Ben Bruce. Known for their intense blend of heavy metal and screamo, they have risen to fame globally, earning numerous awards and becoming one of the most influential bands in the genre.
Origin of the Name
The band’s name was the result of a lighthearted suggestion by drummer James Cassells. While trying to come up with a fitting name, Cassells jokingly said, "Let’s try asking Alexandria for a name," referring to Danny Worsnop's cousin. This playful suggestion stuck, and the band became known as Asking Alexandria.
Logo and Visual Identity
The Asking Alexandria logo is sleek and modern, designed to reflect the band's bold and dynamic image. The logo features a wordmark with a monochrome color palette, highlighted by thin lines that cross through the letters, adding a sense of movement and energy. The lettering is thick, confident, and reminiscent of Helvetica bold, creating a striking visual impact. The word "Asking" is larger and placed above "Alexandria," with both words sharing the first "A" for a cohesive design.
The Band's Emblem
In addition to the logo, Asking Alexandria also uses an emblem that reinforces their strong brand identity. The emblem consists of two stylized "A" letters, whose inner sides meet at the bottom. The extended tails of the letters form an "M" shape, further symbolizing the band's unique and powerful aesthetic.
This combination of logo and emblem reflects the band's musical style—bold, memorable, and full of energy.
