Redeemer’s University (RUN) is a private Christian institution located in Ede, Osun State, Nigeria, founded by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in 2005. History and Founding Vision
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) envisioned contributing to university education in Nigeria, recognizing its potential for social and technological advancement. However, the 1984 Decree No. 19 banned private universities in Nigeria. In 1993, Decree No. 9 was enacted, allowing private individuals or organizations to establish universities if they met the Federal Government’s requirements through the National Universities Commission (NUC).
In pursuit of this dream, RCCG secured 812 hectares of land in Ede South Local Government, Osun State, for the university. RUN began operations with the objective of providing a high-quality educational environment that produces competent graduates who can adapt to Nigeria’s evolving economic and social landscape.
