Federal University Oye, Ekiti (FUOYE), located within Oye community, was one of the nine Federal Universities established by the Federal Government of Nigeria, pursuant to an executive order made by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR.

Federal University Oye-Ekiti has two campuses in Oye-Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti, with eight faculties and fifty-one departments. Professor Chinedu Ostadinma Nebo, OON, is the institution’s founding vice chancellor.
Professor Chinedu Nebo, the first Vice-Chancellor of Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, was recently named Minister of Power by His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As a result, FUOYE appointed Professor Isaac Uzoma Asuzu as Vice Chancellor in his place.
