The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Thursday, 29th August, 2024 Kickstart its orientation camp across the Thirty-six states, including the FCT Abuja with a new policy that has left many mystified, or rather frustrated. Especially, Polytechnic graduates.
NYSC sent all graduates of Polytechnics with HND back from camp on the ground of Industrial Training (IT) certification.
NYSC had introduced a new policy requesting all Polytechnic graduates with Higher National Diploma (HND) to obtain an IT certification in order to be able to participate and fulfil their national service duties. Therefore, screenings for some HND holders have been put on abrupt hault.
As a matter of mandatory policy for all candidates who were mobilized for Batch B stream II , one of the criterion to be registered at your orientation camp as a graduate of Polytechnic or Monotechnic is that you provide evidence that certifies that you have undergone and completed the mandatory one year Industrial Training stipulated for all Polytechnic and Monotechnics. Meanwhile, registration and screening have been going on for candidates who have their IT certificates.
If you are a Polytechnic graduate preparing for camp, you’re advised to go with your IT certificate. If you have already traveled without it, a friend or a relative should scan it and have it sent to your email or WhatsApp, and you could print it wherever you are.
