Microbiology is the branch of science that deals with the study of microorganisms, their functions, interaction with one another and the environment and how to they relate to health. It includes important areas like Bacteriology(bacteria), virology(viruses), parasitology (parasites), mycology (fungi) and immunology (microorganisms and immune system).

Microbiology is a four year degree programme. At completion the student is award a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, B.Sc. Microbiology.
