WAEC subject combination for Agricultural Science

Agricultural science is the science of plant and  animal production and processing. They include the technologies of soil cultivation, crop cultivation and harvesting, animal production, and the processing of plant and animal products for human use.

A degree in Agriculture equips you with practical and business skills applicable in farming, research, and policy-making

Agricultural Science is such a broad faculty. Students get to choose an area of specialization or department after their first or second year.  In many higher institutions, especially university, the duration is five years. At completion you’re awarded a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Science (B Sc. Agriculture).

If you are looking at studying Agricultural Science after secondary school, here are the recommended subject combinations you should have in your WASSCE/SSCE.

Core subjects

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Agricultural Science
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics

Two of these:

  • Economics
  • Geography
  • Animal Husbandry

Other Electives base on strength and preferences

  • Computer Science
  • Civic Education, e.t.c.

School Requirements

Candidates for admission into Agricultural Science should possess at least five credit passes in their core or prerequisites (including Mathematics and English Language).
