The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a suspension of Law admissions at eight universities for the 2025/2026 academic session. This decision follows the Council of Legal Education (CLE) withdrawing approval for the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme at these institutions.
Affected Universities
The following universities have been affected by the suspension:
- Kwara State University
- Bingham University
- Redeemer’s University
- Western Delta University
- Taraba State University
- Arthur Jarvis University
- Alex Ekwueme Federal University
- Nigerian Police Academy
Suspension Period
JAMB has stated that the suspension at the Nigerian Police Academy will last for two academic sessions, meaning Law admissions at the academy will remain suspended for both the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 sessions.
JAMB’s Official Statement
JAMB’s Public Communications Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, confirmed the suspension on Wednesday. He clarified that JAMB will not approve any Law admissions for the affected institutions during the suspension period. The suspension for the Nigerian Police Academy will continue into the 2026/2027 session.
Implications for Candidates
- Law candidates aiming for admission into these universities will need to explore other options.
- The suspension applies only to the Law programme, so other academic courses at these universities remain open for admission.
- JAMB will not process Law applications for these institutions during the suspension period.
For further information, candidates should check JAMB’s official website and monitor updates from the Council of Legal Education.
