The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is offering the Indigent Scholarship Award for the 2024/2025 academic session to support financially challenged students in Nigerian public universities. This initiative awards ₦200,000 to two deserving students from each ASUU branch.
Scholarship Details
- Award Amount: ₦200,000 per beneficiary
- Number of Beneficiaries: Two students per ASUU branch
Guidelines for the Award
- The scholarship is exclusively for indigent students.
- A selection committee will be established in each ASUU branch to oversee the process.
- A public call for applications will be issued by each branch.
- The selection committee will evaluate applications, interact with candidates, and select two recipients.
- Selected names will be ratified by the Congress and forwarded to the National Secretariat.
- Awards will be presented at the zonal level, except for the zone hosting the next NEC meeting, where the award will be presented nationally.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be indigent (financially challenged).
- Be registered students of a public university with an ASUU branch.
- Have a minimum CGPA of 3.0.
Application Process
Applicants should submit a letter of application (not exceeding two pages) including:
- Full name
- Course and year of study
- State of origin
Attach the following documents:
- Photocopy of a valid student ID card
- Letter from the Head of Department stating your CGPA for the last academic session
- Copy of your registration form for the current semester
- Two recent passport photographs
Deadline for Submission
All ASUU branches must complete the selection process and submit names of beneficiaries by 24th January 2025. Branches failing to meet this deadline will be excluded from the 2024/2025 award cycle.
