The University of Lagos (UNILAG) will hold its 55th Convocation Ceremonies from January 13 to 17, 2025, to celebrate the accomplishments of the 2023/2024 graduating class. The event includes exhibitions, lectures, awards, and mandatory seat reservations.

January 10, 2025 (Friday)

• Special Jumat Service: UNILAG Central Mosque.

January 13, 2025 (Monday)

• Opening of Exhibitions: 9:00 a.m., Senate Car Park near J.F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium.

• Commissioning of Projects: Led by Chief Wole Olanipekun, including:
  • Centre for Herbal Medicine and Drug Recovery
  • 120-bed extension at Moremi Hall.
  • Ultra-modern Learning Commons at the University Main Library.

• Convocation Lecture: By Dr. Tayo Aduloju on Universities as Hubs for Development and Wealth Creation, chaired by Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola.

• Groundbreaking Ceremony: School of Postgraduate Studies building.

January 14, 2025 (Tuesday)

• Morning Session (9:00 a.m.): Award of first degrees, diplomas, certificates, and prizes for Faculties of Education and Social Sciences.

• Afternoon Session (1:00 p.m.): Faculties of Arts, Environmental Sciences, and Science.

January 15, 2025 (Wednesday)

• Morning Session: Graduation for Faculties of Engineering, Law, and Management Sciences.

• Afternoon Session: Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences, Dental Sciences, Pharmacy, and Distance Learning Institute.

January 16, 2025 (Thursday)

• Postgraduate Awards: Diplomas, Master’s, and Doctorate Degrees, including best Ph.D. thesis awards.

• Honourary Degrees:
  • Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
  • Mr. Kola Adesina.
  • Mr. Fola Adeola

• Professors Emeriti: Professors Babajide Alo and Olukayode Amund.

Collection of Academic Outfit and Order of Proceedings

Graduating students must collect their gowns and Order of Proceedings from respective faculties or centres:

• College of Medicine

• School of Postgraduate Studies

• Distance Learning Institute

• University of Lagos Business School

Submission of Payment Receipts

Send payment receipts to faculty emails, including:

• Distance Learning Institute: direcords@unilag.edu.ng

• ULBS: ulbs@unilag.edu.ng

• Postgraduate Studies: recordspgs@unilag.edu.ng

• Arts: foarts@unilag.edu.ng

• Other faculties follow similar formats.

Seat Reservation

• Mandatory for Days 1 and 2 via the UNILAG Convocation Access Portal.

• Print access passes:
  • Day 1: January 9, 2025.
  • Day 2: January 10, 2025.

• No entry after 8:30 a.m. (morning) or 12:30 p.m. (afternoon).

Return of Academic Outfit

• Return by February 3, 2025, to avoid a ₦40,000 fine.

Certificate Collection

Available immediately after convocation. Penalties for late collection:

• ₦10,000 for the first year.

• ₦5,000 for each additional year.

Alumni Registration Fee

• First degree: ₦5,000.

• Postgraduate degree: ₦7,500.
