The Federal University Gusau (FUGUS) has achieved a significant milestone with the National Universities Commission (NUC) approving the establishment of its College of Health Sciences. This development paves the way for five new undergraduate programmes aimed at training healthcare professionals for the future.
Approved Programmes at FUGUS College of Health Sciences
Starting in the 2024/2025 academic session, the following courses will be offered:
MBBS (Medicine and Surgery)
B.N.Sc. (Nursing Science)
B.PT. (Physiotherapy)
B.DS. (Dental Surgery)
B.Sc. (Human Nutrition and Dietetics)
These programmes are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to meet the demands of modern healthcare delivery.
The Role of the College of Health Sciences
The College of Health Sciences aims to become a hub for producing competent healthcare professionals, including doctors, dentists, nurses, physiotherapists, and nutritionists. NUC’s Verification Visit
The NUC’s resource verification team visited FUGUS from October 22nd to 23rd, 2024, to assess the university’s readiness to launch these programmes. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mu’azu Abubakar Gusau, assured the team of the institution’s preparedness, which led to the approval.
